Easing Period Pain During That Time of the Month
Every month, half the world's population suffers abdominal cramps lasting 2 to 4 days, sometimes even a whole week. This pain always comes with a woman's period: a dull, lingering ache, along with a big drop in mood, that makes everyday life miserable.
Use the following tips so your period no longer has to be something to dread.
AVOID "HEATING" FOODS
Eating a healthy diet during these days is a must. During your period, your body goes through big changes that can make you feel overheated and break out in spots, so cutting back on "heating" foods is essential.

Eat plenty of protein and fiber, and get a regular supply of vitamins from fruit and vegetables. You should also limit alcohol, beer and anything containing caffeine, as they make you more tense and are bad for cramps.
DRINK NATURAL TEAS
Tea is very good for us, including for relieving monthly period pain. Tea leaves contain anti-spasmodic compounds that counter the contractions causing cramps.

Natural teas such as chamomile, lotus and ginger tea are all good choices. Tea also helps the body relax, eases stress and fatigue, and lifts your mood during your period.
WARM WATER
We should all drink 2 liters of water a day, but during these "delicate" days, make warm water your main drink.

Warm water quickly helps bring cramps under control, improves blood circulation, keeps your abdomen warm and prevents indigestion. Try a glass of warm water with a few slices of ginger or a few mint leaves every morning to relax.
TAKE A WARM BATH
Unwind by sinking into a warm bath after a stressful day at work.

It's the best way to relax your body and ease the pain, and above all it helps you stay extra clean during your period. Bacteria are very active at this time, so warm water helps get rid of them, neutralize odors and keep your intimate area protected.
EXERCISE
Light exercise is very beneficial during these days.
Gentle exercise helps your blood circulate better. As well as making you sweat, it releases endorphins, which help you relax and quickly ease cramps.
Some scientists have shown that women who exercise regularly have less period pain.
APPLY WARMTH TO YOUR BELLY
When your internal muscles contract and cause a dull, nagging ache, a warm towel placed on your belly gives quick relief.
Warming the abdomen relaxes the contractions, quickly stops the pain and keeps the area warm.
REST AND RELAX
Along with eating well, getting enough sleep is another way to reduce stress. Always make sure your body gets a full 8 hours of "time off" every day.

In particular, when cramps strike, try to get some sleep – it's an effective way to ease the pain. Choose a comfortable sleeping position and avoid putting pressure on your belly, which makes the pain worse.
PAINKILLERS
These should be seen as the last resort for treating period pain.
If you are one of the unlucky ones who get severe cramps every month, painkillers may be the last option you can turn to. But stick to the proper dose to avoid side effects that can harm your body.
